Many people aren’t aware of this, but I found out today from Katherine personally that years ago there were plans to build a major resort hotel on the site of Lighthouse Field State Park, and she fought tooth and nail to prevent it from being built, and won. Just one example of Katherine Biers as a champoin of the environment, fightng to preserve our natural spaces.

Blackbird Raum is a band from Santa Cruz that has created a new genre of music, and it is captivating ears with enchanting instruments and prophetic lyrics that give a grim reality check, or perhaps more accurately, a grim beating over the head of reality. If you live in Santa Cruz, you’ve probably seen them downtown before playing their eclectic instruments and screaming their charged lyrics. They always draw the biggest crowd downtown.
